Dance It Out: Finding Joy Through Movement
by: Daniellia Fariesya
Conceived as a pure form of self-entertainment, dancing is vastly joyful and liberating. One can wonder whether good dancing skill is necessary; what really matters though is the essence of joy an individual feels while performing. An easy pick-me-up would be to take a favorite music track and let one's limbs freely express with the tune on a normal, otherwise dull day. This is your stage; your moment to shine; nobody else is watching.
When done properly, dancing is best for your body and mind. Dancing improves your fitness, reduces the stress inside you, and charges your body with energy. When you dance your body produces "happy hormones", making you feel positive and confident. It is like an exercise except for that it is a lot of fun and filled with joy.
Dancing gives you an excellent opportunity to speak through your body language even if you are feeling emotions that cannot be described or are accompanied by laughter. Are you happy about it? Sad about it? Or just really bored? Dancing is an incredible therapeutic way to engage with yourself, enjoy the moment, and brighten a dull day.
