At the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold made a mixed debut for Real Madrid, formally ushering in a new era of his career.
The 26-year-old began for Xabi Alonso's team in their opening encounter of the Club World Cup against Al-Hilal, which finished in a 1-1 tie. He was wearing a white jersey with the name "Trent" and the number 12 on the back.
Alexander-Arnold's departure from his boyhood club after 354 appearances and every major prize won was already evident, but it has now been felt on American soil.
Before being replaced in the 65th minute, the England international, who cost £8.4 million when he signed his Liverpool deal, participated in both the good and bad parts of the game.
